Where to begin ….

Well after nearly 2 years of living here I thought this could be like a diary and a way of you seeing what we are all up to!

We live in Dormitz, a small village on the outskirts of a city called Erlangen. We are about 30 minutes from Nuremberg. Erlangen is a very industrial city. It houses the HQ of Siemens, Adidas, Puma and has a university teaching hospital.

Nig loves his job at Eckart, so I reckon we are here for the duration!

Josh did has last 2 years of school at the Franconian International School in Erlangen. He studied for the International Baccalaureate, which is an equivalent of A Levels and gets his results this week. He also turns 18 at the end of this month. He was interested in joining the RAF as a pilot, but unfortunately they are not taking any more recruits until late next year because of all the cut backs. Fortunately, with the help of my friend’s husband, he has managed to get a temporary position at the Adidas HQ. He is really pleased and starts work in 2 weeks.

Ben was 16 at the end of May and sat International GCSE exams. His results come through in August. He also studies at the International School and will do the IB over his next 2 years. He is in England as I type. He didn’t know what he wanted for his birthday, so we treated him to a trip back to Lancashire.

Both the boys play for the U19 football team in the village. Ben gave up swimming last October, he had had enough and wanted to go back to football.

I work 15 hours a week at the International School in the kindergarten with 4 and 5 year olds. I love the job.

So that’s where we are at the minute ….
